Christopher Street Financial started as a dream and a commitment to provide a safe space for the gay, lesbian and supportive community to have access to professional, high-quality financial advice and investment services. Our founder, Robert “Bob” Casaletto, was a visionary and activist. He coined the tagline, “Gay Money, Straight Advice” in a New York Times ad in 1985, bringing Christopher Street out of the LGBTQ+ media and into the mainstream.
In addition to establishing Christopher Street Financial, Bob Casaletto also fostered the birth of another organization that ultimately became known as the Empire State Pride Agenda, a group working toward changing policy and protecting the rights of the LGBTQ+ community.
When Bob passed away in 1996, his estate plan gifted ownership of Christopher Street Financial to the American Civil Liberties Union for their Gay and Lesbian Project. Jennifer Hatch, our current president, took the helm shortly thereafter. She continues to carry on Bob’s vision to provide a safe space for the LGBTQ+ community and meet the needs of future generations.
Today & Tomorrow
A lot has changed since the birth of Christopher Street Financial, but one thing has not: our commitment to provide high-quality financial planning and investment services for the LGBTQ+ community and allies. As time has gone by, we see a wider spectrum of people coming to us to find a safe place to explore their financial journey including families, single women, social responsible investors and charitable organizations.
To create a space for the future, we have recruited talent from across the nation, integrated cutting-edge technology, and expanded services to include socially responsible investment options, charitable, estate and tax strategy planning. The vision remains the same, but the bandwidth grows to meet the challenges of a changing world.
